Balance is the key to life, whether we are referring to our diet, exercise, recreation, work, or family life; balance is necessary for personal health. Have you thought about silence recently? No radio or CD playing in the car, no TV or videos in the home? Imagine what it would be like to have one hour of silence. Some of you might say, "No Way!", meaning you don't want to hear the thoughts running in your head, and thus the various electronically produced sounds have the purpose of covering them up! However, as most of you know, covering up things like thoughts and feelings, though maybe helpful in the short-term, is not beneficial in the long-term. Buried feelings eventually work their way to the surface and exhibit themselves in, shall we say, less than pretty forms. Not fun, for yourself or the people in your life.
So take some time this week and listen to the silence (and the noise in your head). In doing this, begin to formulate solutions, not criticism. Hear those thoughts and for the ones that venture on the negative side, ask what you need to do to push them towards a more positive perspective. Find a solution! In so doing, you will also feel a twinge of confidence as you learn to exact your own solutions to the problems you are now listening to and willing to confront.
Next, I will delve into the concept of Self Compassion Line.
May Peace find its home within you.
